Happy Handloom :)
Practised by the local communities in the vast deserts of Kutch in Gujarat & Sindh in Pakistan.
The double sided hand block printed textile is still made in a tradtional way with natural dyes. And it still sports the classic colors of blue & red with geometric patterns.
The ancient technique of preparing 'ajrakh' is unlikely to have changed much over the millinia. It is complicated and involves as many as 14 steps.
Natural dyes & mordants used include indigo, harda, lime and even camel dung.
The blocks of Ajrakh printing have complex geometric designs and floral motifs.
